Kids don't want new school meals
It seems you lot aren't impressed with what's on the menu for school meals, as fewer of you are tucking into them.
A year ago new rules were brought in to make school meals healthier, and ever since fewer pupils have wanted to eat the food their school serves up.
The healthier meals, which include more fresh fruit and veg and less salty and fatty foods, were introduced after a hit TV programme starring Jamie Oliver.
But experts say healthier meals are no good if kids don't want to eat them.
The lack of kids munching on meals was revealed by the people in charge of checking the standards in schools, Ofsted.
Since the change in rules they've looked at 27 schools, and found fewer school meals being eaten in 19 of them.
There are lots of reasons why the meals aren't as popular, including higher prices, long queues to get the food and the places where you eat not being very nice.
And the experts are also worried because children know the difference between healthy and unhealthy food, but still don't want to eat it.

A man thought to be the oldest in the world has died - aged 126.
Benito Martinez was born in 1880, but can't be recognized officially as the oldest man because he did not have a birth certificate.
He said that the secret of a long life was hard work, lots of fruit and vegetables - and not too many cigars or too much alcohol.
The Guinness World Records has American Elizabeth Bolden as the oldest known living person. She is 116.
Mr. Martinez, from Cuba in the Caribbean Sea, was very active until a few months before he died.
He was well known for his toothless smile and his dancing!

Safety Rules For Online Dating
There are many stories out there about the perils of online dating. Some are urban legends, and some are alarmist or driven by contempt. Others ring true because we hear them from friends or read about them in the newspaper. The truth of the matter is that yes, there are creeps out there who prey on people that reveal personal information on the internet. It is also true that there are basic precautions you can take to keep them at bay.
Follow these strategies to date online safely:
Stay anonymous
This is basic, but it is easy to let things slip in your initial excitement when someone contacts you. First, only use dating services that do not disclose personal information. Second, don’t reveal identifying information about your neighborhood, apartment building, or workplace. Third, if you have children, do not name them or their school.
Meet in a public place
It is not a good idea to go hiking on a secluded trail or rafting down a river on the first date. Instead, meet at a restaurant, coffee shop, or mall some distance away from your home. Carry your cell phone and keep it on at all times. At your meeting, if you have any reason to feel uncomfortable or unsafe, leave.
Go with your instincts
Usually, everything checks out and the person you meet is normal.
If your gut tells you otherwise, trust your intuitive judgment.

Sex Ed
Just because you found it on Google doesn't mean it's right. We asked the experts where to go when you just don't know the answers.
Here's a sobering fact: The U.S. has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the developed world, says a study by the Alan Guttmacher Institute, which compared adolescents in the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, France, and Sweden. And according to Planned Parenthood, "American adolescents are contracting HIV faster than almost any other demographic group." When we polled thousands of ELLEgirl.com visitors for our April 2006 Sex Survey, we were shocked to find out that only 40% of you consider yourselves to be very informed about STDs, and that if you do have questions, 30% of you turn to friends rather than an expert. And since 43% of you confess you do not have comprehensive sex education covering both abstinence and birth control in your school, we thought we'd pass along some legit online resources to turn to when you have questions. Our thanks to the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) for the recommendations.
Teenwire.com Our favorite part of this site created by Planned Parenthood is the "Ask the Expert" section, where you can submit your question to a professional or join a live chat with the site's editors. The site covers all sorts of topics, from dating to pregnancy and STDs. It also includes some fun stuff like quizzes and real-life stories, as well as some really practical information, like body diagrams and basic definitions of terms.
Sex, Etc./ The Network for Family Life Education at Rutgers University put this site together, and it has a sort of collegiate feel to it, minus the fraternities. Sex ed info and a Q& A section is balanced with feature stories teen activism, current events, even movies and music. The best part is a totally comprehensive glossary. There isn't a term you can think of that isn't in that thing.
Beats the heck out of asking your gym teacher, or even worse, never asking at all!

Give blood
Nobody likes needles, but think of it this way: Every two seconds someone in America needs blood, and just one pint can save three people’s lives! You need to be 17 years old and weigh more than 110 pounds to give blood, but you can volunteer to help if you are younger. Trade blood for cookies- not a bad deal!

Nobel for anti-poverty pioneers
Published: 2006/10/13 16:13:28 GMT
Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh and the Grameen Bank have been jointly awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize.
Mr Yunus, an economist, founded the bank, which is one of the pioneers of micro-credit lending schemes for the poor, especially women, in Bangladesh.
Mr Yunus, 66, said he would use the 10m Swedish kronor ($1.35m, £730,000) prize money to "find more innovative ways" to help the poor launch businesses.
He said he was delighted at the news and proud of the bank's achievement.
"I'm very very happy. It's a great honour for us and for Bangladesh. It's a recognition of our work," he told the BBC Bengali service.
"As a Bangladeshi, I'm proud that we have given something to the world. Our work has now been recognised by the whole world. "
